Bio
Prof. Dr. Peter Zombola - award winning composer and university professor. Currently working on the final piece of his Oratorio Trilogy as well as establishing a new PhD Music School in Hungary with his colleagues.
Peter Zombola was born in Budapest (1983).
He graduated Summa Cum Laude both in Composition and Teacher of Music Theory at the Liszt Academy.
He gained PhD title and then Habilitation also at Liszt Academy. In 2024 he has been awarded the Professor title.
Besides hundreds of choir, solo, chamber and orchestral pieces Zombola's main work is an Oratorio Trilogy. Requiem premiered in 2012 followed by Passion in 2015. The third piece is anticipated for 2026 and unlike the first two which are based around Catholic themes and written in latin, the third piece is called Kaddish and based on the ancient Jewish prayer written in Hebrew.
Several of his work have been premiered at foreign and Hungarian music and cultural festivals, lately mostly in the United States. Zombola has also been dedicated for film and theatre music composition.
He started teaching at various universities in 2004. Since then he expanded his teaching portfolio and also regularly visits foreign universities within Europe as well as in the United States both as a composer and as a professor.
For 5 years he also held the Artistic Director position at the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir (2012-2017).
